This color variation of the Zebra Midge is very effective. We use tan midges on our local tailwaters as much or more than the black zebra midge. The tan colored midge is also very productive on the Bighorn River.
The Tungsten Thin Mint is a must have bugger or leech pattern for stillwaters – but it has earned its keep on moving water too. This bugger style pattern has a nice mix of flash and natural iridescence from peacock herl. Favorite on the Bighorn River in Montana.
Umpqua Guide s Choice Hare s Ear takes the traditional hare s ear nymph and adds a bead, flashback, and soft hackle collar. Other enhancements are a peacock thorax and thread accent behind the bead. The Guide s choice hare s ear is a great searching pattern anywhere trout swim.
Developed by Bob Brook s, the Upright Trico Spinner is great early in the spinner fall. The upright wing makes the fly much easier to see than flat wing spinner patterns.
This is one of our favorite flies. It works every day of the year here in the Black Hills, and it seems to work everywhere we travel to trout fish. Fish it deep behind an attractor nymph, or fish it as a dropper below a parachute. You will be happy you did.
A great all around attractor dry for summer fishing. Imitates small to large stoneflies and is a good hopper pattern as well. Awesome fly for dry-dropper rigs.Â
